In order to find out the most trending houseplants of 2021, we did some deep digging into Google trends, so that you don’t have to. Here are the top 10 houseplants that we predict will take the growing world by storm this year, to brighten up your home and your Instagram feed.

These plants take up minimal space and are low-maintenance so if you don’t have much of a green thumb—no problem, you’ll get there!—All of these plants are super easy and perfect for newbie gardeners!  

Here are the 9-coolest houseplants trending in 2021 that can really brighten up even the darkest corners of your home adding a great decorative touch! 

1. Blue Star Fern

The Blue Star Fern’s popularity comes from its stunning color and the fact that it is lower maintenance than many of its relatives. It grows best in bright, indirect but can tolerate lower-light conditions. Because the plant grows naturally in tropical forests keeping the soil moist and misting the leaves helps keep the humidity up.  

2. Mangave

Mangave plants are a cross between the genus Manfreda and an Agave plant. It is fast-growing and adds a beautiful texture and color to any space. Like with other succulents, make sure you give it bright light to bring out the leaves’ colors. When watering, allow the soil to dry out and then give it a good soak.

This little plant is surprisingly easy to care for and requires very little maintenance. Watering once a week is plenty, and will leave your plant satisfied. Just don’t allow the soil to dry out or be too soaking wet.

Sansevierias thrive in either very bright light or almost dark corners of the house. It is a beautiful, broad-leafed plant known for its upright, bright silvery-sage leaves that darken to olive as the plant matures. An excellent plant for bo h beginners and seasoned houseplant owners.

Alocasias are often called African mask plants due to their visual resemblance to African masks.

All Calatheas make great houseplants because they add lovely texture and are pet safe. Like most plants that originate from the rainforests, they love indirect light, warmth, and humidity.
