Do’s and Don’ts for Cleaning Your Houseplants

You cannot keep yourself clean by scrubbing sandpaper all over yourself, can you? In the same way, there are certain things you simply must avoid when going about cleaning your houseplants, and certain practices you should adopt for a better experience for them and you. 

• Dust – dust your plants with a soft microfibre cloth or duster. Use a brush to dust cacti or plants with small leaves. Make sure that you dust your plants gently without injuring the plant.
• Rinse – make a mixture of equal amounts of filtered water and lime juice. Dip a soft cloth into this mixture and wipe the leaves. This mixture will also make sure that there are no stubborn water residues on the leaves.
• Wash – you can use lukewarm water and a few drops of mild soap to clean your plants if it is too dirty. Clean the plants with this mixture gently with a soft cloth. Rinse the plants well and make sure there’s no soap deposit on the plants. 
• Do not use leaf shine products – such products clog the pores of the leaves and damages the plants.

Do not dry it under the hot sun – after cleaning your houseplants, never ever let it dry under the hot sun, as that would lead to burning of the leaves.
